Liverpool will battle Borussia Dortmund for the signature of Gladbach midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud in the summer, according to The Guardian.
Dahoud, 20, has enjoyed a hugely impressive breakthrough campaign in the Bundesliga this season alongside Arsenal target Granit Xhaka at the heart of their midfield.
Gladbach will be reluctant to lose both midfielders this summer and it seems logical that only one will be allowed to leave, with Xhaka the more likely.
However, that hasn’t stopped Dortmund and Liverpool, who will face each other in the Europa League on Thursday, from stepping up their interest in the Germany under-21 international.
Dortmund are expected to be in the market for a new central midfielder in the summer with Gundogan edging closer to a move to Manchester City, while wholesale changes are anticipated at Liverpool in the close season.
Only two players aged 21 and under have registered more assists than Dahoud (7) across Europe’s top five leagues this season.
