Leicester consider move for Manchester United defender

Leicester have asked Manchester United about the availability of left-back Luke Shaw as a possible replacement for Ben Chilwell, reports The Daily Mail.

England left-back Chilwell has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester City and Chelsea in recent months and the Foxes are braced for a possible bidding war for the 23-year-old.

And the Foxes aren't prepared to wait on the possibility of one of their prized assets departing without a replacment lined up.

Shaw has emerged as a possible target for Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers and it's rumoured Leicester have enquired over his potential availability as a Chilwell successor.

The 24-year-old has struggled for regular game time on the back of his big money arrival from Southampton in 2014, with injuries restricting Shaw to just 74 Premier League starts at Old Trafford.

However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would be reluctant to lose two senior left-backs in the same window, with Ashley Young linked with a move to Inter.

Brandon Williams has made four league starts at left-back for United this season, but it may be that Shaw remains at Old Trafford until the summer before any move coes to fruition.
