Newcastle manager Steve Bruce wants to take Tottenham youngster Ryan Sessegnon on loan next season, claims The Sun.
Tottenham accept Sessegnon needs regular playing time to reach his potential and are contemplating letting him leave on loan next season.
The 20-year-old joined Tottenham just over a year ago in a £25m move from Fulham but struggled to make any impact under Mauricio Pochettino and then Jose Mourinho.
Boyhood club Fulham have already been suggested as a potential destination for Sessegnon following their promotion to the Premier League.
Barcelona reportedly had a shock enquiry rebuffed by Mourinho's side last month and now Newcastle are looking to prise the youngster away.
Newcastle took Danny Rose on loan from Tottenham for the second half of last season but the 30-year-old wants to see out the remainder of his contract at the club.
Bruce is hoping to sign young British players for Newastle this season and has earmarked Sessegnon as a top transfer target to fill the void at left-back.
Sessegnon managed just six Premier League appearances in his first season for Tottenham but did score on his Champions League debut against Bayern Munich.
