Chelsea midfielder joins Jiangsu Suning

Chelsea have confirmed Ramires has joined Chinese Super League side Jiangsu Suning.

Ramires, 28, only signed a new four-year deal with the Premier League champions in October but has barely featured for Chelsea since Guus Hiddink was made interim manager midway through December.

The Blues forked out £17m to sign Ramires from Benfica in August 2010 but he has never been a first-team regular since his arrival.

Chelsea are looking to free up funds to revamp their squad in the summer and have reportedly fetched in the region of £25m for the Brazil international, who becomes the Premier League’s biggest export to the Chinese Super League.

Ramires, who leaves Stamford Bridge having won every major honour available, was particularly useful in the Champions League. While he will be remembered for his audacious finish in the 2012 Champions League semi-final against Barcelona, he was also superb at turning over possession.

In fact, since his arrival Ramires has won at least 30 more tackles than any of Chelsea player in Uefa’s premier competition.
