Tottenham have expressed an interest in signing West Ham target Gedson Fernandes from Benfica, claims The Daily Mail.
West Ham have been locked in talks to sign Fernandes on an initial 18-month loan deal for the last week but have struggled to get a deal over the line.
Fernandes is free to leave Benfica this month after failing to break into the first-team and now Jose Mourinho has cast his eye to the 21-year-old.
Tottenham currently have a crisis in midfield with Christian Eriksen expected to leave and Moussa Sissoko ruled out for until April.
Summer signing Tanguy Ndombele has failed to make a positive impression on new manager Mourinho, while Eric Dier is yet to rediscover his best form this season.
Fernandes, who has an eye-watering £104m release clause, has only started 13 league matches for Benfica since the beginning of last season.
