Middlesbrough manager Tony Pulis has confirmed Ben Gibson is on the verge of joining Burnley.
Gibson has been heavily linked with a £15m move to Burnley in the last few days and was left out of Middlesbrough’s squad for their 2-2 draw with Millwall on Saturday.
Burnley are yet to make a single summer signing but Pulis has confirmed Gibson will all but be a Claret in the coming days.
“I think Ben’s done,” Pulis told BBC Sport when asked about a potential move to Turf Moor.
Gibson was a reported Chelsea target after Boro were relegated from the Premier League 12 months ago but the west London outfit were put off by their £30m asking price.
The 25-year-old’s stock has diminished since then and now Burnley are poised to land the centre-back for half of that fee.
Gibson will rival Ben Mee and James Tarkowski for a starting berth at the heart of Burnley’s defence to strengthen Sean Dyche’s options at the back.
Prior to this season, Gibson had only missed 90 minutes of playing time for Middlesbrough over the last two league campaigns, starting 85 out of a possible 86 matches.
