Arsenal have announced Denis Suarez's arrival from Barcelona on loan for the rest of the season.
Barcelona made Suarez available for transfer at the start of the month after the Spaniard failed to break into Ernesto Valverde's first-team plans.
The Spanish giants wanted to sell Suarez on a permanent deal this month but the 25-year-old turned down chances to join Sevilla and Real Betis with his heart set on reuniting with Unai Emery.
Part of the reason Barcelona have agreed to Suarez's departure on loan is that the versatile midfielder has signed a 12-month contract extension until 2021 to retain his value.
“We are very happy that Denis Suarez is joining us,” Emery told the Arsenal's official website. “He is a player we know well and I have worked with him at Sevilla.
“He brings us quality and options in many different attacking positions, so he’ll be able to help the team.
The pair worked together for a season at Sevilla and Emery has been in pursuit of his signature all month as a potential long-term replacement for Aaron Ramsey.
Arsenal have an option to sign Suarez in a permanent deal worth €25m at the end of the season, should he impress over the next few months.
Suarez has only made six substitute appearances in all competitions this season and may take some time to get up to speed in the Premier League.
