Manchester United ace avoids retrospective FA ban

Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku will not face any further action by the Football Association for his involvement in an incident with Brighton defender Gaetan Bong on Saturday, claims BBC.

Video replays showed Lukaku appearing to kick out at Bong during the 66th minute of United’s 1-0 win over Brighton at the weekend, leading to suggestions he would be hit with a retrospective three-game ban.

However, the Football Association have opted against taking further action against the Belgium international meaning Lukaku will be available for upcoming games against Watford, Arsenal and Manchester City.

Given United are already eight points behind league leaders City, Lukaku’s absence would have been a huge blow for Jose Mourinho’s side.

The 24-year-old may have only scored once in his last six league appearances for United, but he has still played a direct hand in 11 league goals in 13 games for the Red Devils.
