Chelsea target Wilson going no where, warns Bournemouth boss

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has warned Chelsea off pursuing reported transfer target Callum Wilson in January.

Chelsea assistant manager Gianfranco Zola confirmed earlier this week the west London outfit are interested in signing Wilson next month.

Wilson is playing the best football of his career this season and has been earmarked as a potential upgrade for Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud by Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri.

The 26-year-old scored on his England debut against USA in November but Howe insists Bournemouth’s star striker is only focused on the Cherries.

“I haven’t seen the comments [made by Zola],” Howe told the London Evening Standard. “First I’ve heard about it.

“Callum’s our player, very focused on us. You could see that tonight, gave everything for the team.”

Wilson has scored eight goals and provided five assists in 16 Premier League appearances this season. In fact, only Eden Hazard (17), Raheem Sterling (15) and Mohamed Salah (14) have played a direct hand in more Premier League goals than Wilson this season.
