Manchester City set to launch £50m raid of Juventus

Manchester City are ready to step up their interest in Juventus right-back Joao Cancelo with a £50m bid, claims The Sun.

Pep Guardiola wants to sign an upgrade on Kyle Walker at right-back and has earmarked Cancelo as his top choice.

The City head coach is also interested in Crystal Palace starlet Aaron Wan-Bissaka but has been put off due to his staggering valuation.

Palace are reportedly demanding close to £70m for the 21-year-old in order to fend off interest from both Manchester clubs.

Juventus only signed Cancelo 12 months ago but his future at the club is reportedly in doubt amid suggestions Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is about to take over.

City are preparing for Danilo’s departure this summer and want Cancelo to provide competition for places with Walker at right-back, who is seen as a weak link in the City defence.

Cancelo finished his maiden campaign for Juventus in the WhoScored Team of the Season in Serie A (7.20).

Only Jeremie Boga (3.3) and Josip Ilicic (2.5) averaged more dribbles per game than Cancelo (2.4) in Serie A last term.
