Marco Verratti has signed a new five-year deal keeping him at Paris Saint-Germain until 2021, his agent has confirmed.
The Italy international only extended his contract with PSG in February but the Ligue 1 champions have moved to secure his long-term future amid interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Both Spanish giants will now need to look for alternative options to fill their midfield in the near future after Verratti’s agent, Donato Di Campli, confirmed he has signed a new long-term deal on his official Twitter account.
No player that made at least 15 appearances in Europe’s top five leagues last season averaged more passes per 90 minutes than Verratti (125.1 minutes).
