Hull City head coach Marco Silva is expected to disappoint Southampton and Watford and return to Portugal as FC Porto manager instead, reports the Guardian.
The Portuguese boss impressed during his short stint in England, yet failed to keep the Tigers in the top-flight of English football as they were relegated on the penultimate weekend of the season.
Despite this, Silva’s stock rose considerably and he had attracted plenty of interest from Premier League sides to take over at the end of the season.
Silva is expected to meet with the club’s owners, the Allam family, on Wednesday, yet is set to take over at Porto following Nuno Espirito Santo’s departure at the beginning of the week.
It’s expected that these talks with the Hull supremos is merely a formality after Silva penned a short-term contract at the KCOM Stadium with a view of keeping Hull in the Premier League.
The 39-year-old was always open to the possibility of remaining in England, but never warmed to the interest from Watford, while the return to Portugal with the added addition of Champions League football appeals to Silva.
Porto had tried to recruit Silva in 2015, only to be left disappointed in their pursuit of the former Estoril and Olympiakos head coach.
