Tottenham midfielder may have played last game for club

Tottenham have announced scan results have revealed Mousa Dembele has suffered ankle ligament damage and he is not expected to play again this year.

Dembele sustained the injury seven minutes into Tottenham’s 3-2 victory away to Wolves last weekend before missing their dramatic comeback victory over PSV in the Champions League in midweek.

The Belgium international has struggled to stay fit for prolonged periods of his career and Tottenham have now confirmed their worst fears with Dembele’s latest injury.

“Mousa Dembele - Scan results have confirmed ligament damage to right ankle and is unlikely to be available until the New Year,” a statement read on Tottenham’s official Twitter account.

With Dembele out for the remainder of 2018, there is now a chance the 31-year-old has played hit final game for the club.

Dembele’s current deal is due to expire at the end of the season and he will not renew with Tottenham.

Tottenham are expecting renewed interest from China in January, while Juventus have also been linked with a surprise move for the Belgian.

Of players that have attempted at least 75 dribbles in the Premier League since August 2016, Dembele has the best success rate (84.5%).
