Sunderland look to Ligue 1 for new striker

Sunderland are plotting a summer move for Toulouse striker Martin Braithwaite, according to The Daily Mail.

The Black Cats sent scouts to watch Denmark’s match against Scotland in the international break and have been impressed with his performances in a struggling Toulouse outfit this season.

Sam Allardyce’s side are also battling against relegation this season and any move for the Denmark international could hinge on what division they are plying their trade in next season.

However, Sunderland are willing to pay £4m for the versatile striker, who will only have 12 months remaining on his current deal at the end of the season, although they can expect competition from West Ham.

Only Wissam Ben Yedder (12) has scored more goals for Toulouse in Ligue 1 this season than Braithwaite (9).
