Liverpool to offer Benteke as makeweight for rising Roma star

Liverpool are interested in signing Roma youngster Leandro Paredes and are even prepared to offer Christian Benteke as a sweeter in a potential deal, according to Corriere della Sera, via Football Italia.

Paredes, 21, is currently on a season-long loan at Empoli but has put in a series of impressive performances, which has seemingly caught the eye of Jurgen Klopp.

Klopp is reportedly determined to land the Argentine midfielder and is even prepared to use Benteke as a makeweight to prize his signature from Roma.

Benteke has struggled to make any impression at Liverpool since making the switch from Aston Villa last summer and his future looks increasingly unlikely to be at Anfield beyond this season.

Paredes, who is statistically as complete as a midfielder as they come, has taken 46 of his 48 shots from outside the box this season in Serie A, which ranks him in the top-five for the league.
