Juventus bid for Liverpool midfielder

Juventus have offered Liverpool €25m (£22.6m) for Emre Can but have fallen short of their €30m (£27m) asking price, claims Corriere dello Sport, via Football Italia.

Can has entered the final 12 months of his existing deal at Anfield and has been heavily linked with a move to Juventus all summer.

The Serie A champions appeared resigned to defeat in their pursuit of Can at the start of this month but have now reignited their interest in the Germany international as they look to sign a new box-to-box midfielder.

Liverpool have no interest in selling the 23-year-old this summer and their failed attempt to sign Naby Keita from RB Leipzig, coupled with Adam Lallana’s long-term injury will only enhance Can's chances of first opportunities this season.

Nevertheless, Juventus are not going down without a fight and are desperate to sign Can as Sami Khedira’s long-term replacement.

In the last two Premier League campaigns, Liverpool have a significantly better win ratio when Can has been out of the starting XI (68.2%) compared to when he has been included from the off (42.6%).

Moreover, only Christian Benteke (81) committed more fouls in the Premier League last season than Can (70).
