Antoine Griezmann has signed a new five-year deal with Atletico Madrid blowing Chelsea’s chances of signing the forward, reports L’Equipe.
Griezmann, 25, has been heavily linked with a move away from the La Liga side since the end of the season with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain among those credited with an interest.
Diego Simeone’s future as Atletico head coach has reportedly played a big part in some of the players’ minds and Griezmann’s decision to extend his stay with the Colchoneros would suggest he has been given assurances by Simeone and his own commitment to the club.
Griezmann is the top goalscorer in Spain in the last two seasons outside of those that play for Barcelona and Real Madrid (44).
