RB Leipzig are sweating on the fitness of star man Naby Keita after announcing the midfielder picked up an adductor injury agains Hamburg on Friday.
Keita was forced off with minutes remaining of Leipzig’s 2-0 win away to Hamburg and it has now emerged he is a major doubt for their Champions League group stage opener against Monaco next week.
The 22-year-old gave Leipzig the lead against Hamburg with a tremendous long range effort to open his account for the season and the German side will now conduct further tests to find out the extent of his injury.
Leipzig will be desperate to have Keita available for the reception of Monaco on Wednesday as they gear up for their first ever taste of Champions League football.
Liverpool will also be keen to find out the test results after wrapping up a deal to sign the Guinea international at the end of the season.
Since the start of last season, Keita has won possession in the middle third at least 49 more times than any other Bundesliga player (197).
