Paul Clement has made a breakthrough in the transfer market after Swansea City announced the arrival of Luciano Narsingh from Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven.
The 44-year-old was made Bob Bradley’s successor at the start of the month and has already been quick to point out the squad needs urgent strengthening in the transfer window.
Swansea are expected to wrap up a deal to sign Norwich City full-back Martin Olsson but have already announced the £4m arrival of Narsingh, who has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal keeping him with the relegation strugglers for 2019.
“I talked to Leroy [Fer] before I came here and he told me it is a good club with great teammates and fantastic supporters,” Narsingh told the club’s official website.
“It helped me a lot in making a decision, so it was easy for me to say yes to Swansea. I’ve looked at the Premier League for two or three years now, and Swansea always play good football.
“That’s why when Swansea came in for me I knew I wanted to play here. This is the best league, and with Swansea playing good football I knew it was a good club for me.
“I’m 26 now and it’s a good age to come to the Premier League. I won two titles in Holland, so it is a great time to come here.”
Narsingh had found game time hard to come by for PSV this season but in 2012 he registered a record 22 assists in the Dutch top-flight. Furthermore, has made 76 accurate crosses (excl. corners) in the last three Eredivisie seasons, only one player has more in that time.
His creativity could prove key to Swansea’s chances of survival given only five teams have scored fewer Premier League goals than Clement’s side this season (23 goals scored).
