Roma enter talks for Szczesny

Roma have entered talks with Arsenal over a proposed loan move for goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, according to reports.

David Ospina appeared the most likely to leave the Emirates Stadium earlier in the summer, but it has now emerged that Szczesny is closest to exiting following Petr Cech’s high profile arrival.

The 25-year-old position as Arsenal’s No.1 ‘keeper has been subject to constant criticism since he broke through into the Arsenal first-team in 2009 and he was eventually replaced by David Ospina midway through last season.

In the last six seasons, Szczesny’s WhoScored statistics are significantly worse than his Arsenal teammates. In fact, last season was the Poland international’s worst season over the last six years, gaining a WhoScored rating of just 6.46 following 17 Premier League appearances.
