Roma’s director of sport insists Edin Dzeko will not join Chelsea until the Premier League giants lodge an ‘acceptable’ offer.
Chelsea are locked in talks with the Italian counterparts in a bid to sign Dzeko before the end of the January transfer window having all but wrapped up a deal for his team-mate, Emerson Palmieri.
Antonio Conte is desperate to sign another striker to help ease the goalscoring burden on Alvaro Morata but negotiations with Roma are progressing slowly.
There is a disagreement between the two clubs over the add-ons included in Dzeko’s transfer and Monchi revealed on Wednesday night that the Bosnian striker will only leave if an acceptable offer comes in.
“Every club in the world would at least consider any offers that come in. We are ready to listen, and then we’ll decide,” Monchi said in a statement published on the club’s official Twitter account.
“At the moment Dzeko is here and we are all happy. That means that what we’ve received so far wasn’t acceptable.”
Dzeko scored a last minute equaliser in Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with Sampdoria to take his league tally to 10 goals for the season.
The 31-year-old has now scored at least 10 goals in seven of his last nine league campaigns.
