Wilshere reveals reasons he left Arsenal for Bournemouth
Jack Wilshere has revealed exclusively to the Daily Mail the reasons he left Arsenal for Bournemouth.
The England international secured a loan move to the Vitality Stadium in the dying embers of the summer transfer window and has helped played a key role in the Cherries’ impressive recent form.
In the 0-0 draw with Tottenham last weekend, Wilshere played the full 90 minutes in a Premier League match for the first time since 2014, but it could well have been so different for the on-loan man.
When asked why he left Arsenal on loan, he admits his exclusion from the England squad back in August convinced him to leave.
Remembering the date he decided to leave, he says: “August 28, the Sunday. It was the final straw. It hurt not being there.”
Prior to the squad announcement, though, Wilshere reveals he had already given some thought to departing Arsenal.
“There were a lot of midfielders and the manager brought another one in,” he adds. “I'd been injured for a while, and I was thinking I was at a stage of my career where I needed to play. I'm 24 and I've already missed too much football, and if I want to get to where I want to be it'd be no good coming off the bench in every game.”
