Everton will enquire over the availability of Calum Chambers if John Stones leaves Goodison Park, according to the Sun on Sunday.
Stones has been strongly linked with moves to Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Barcelona in recent months, though Toffees boss Roberto Martinez has regularly batted away reports that the England international could depart the club.
Interest in the 21-year-old is expected to heat up as the transfer window approaches and while Martinez is keen to hold onto the centre-back, Chambers has emerged as a surprise target for Everton should Stones leave.
The former Southampton star has struggled to break into the Gunners starting XI this season, making just one league start.
Arsenal would be keen to retain the services of the 20-year-old Englishman, but could be forced to cash in on Chambers should he demand regular playing time.
