Luis Enrique’s move to Chelsea gathers pace

Former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique is ready to move to England as speculation he will replace Antonio Conte at Chelsea gathers pace, claims The Daily Telegraph.

Chelsea have not made a decision on Conte’s future but it seems extremely unlikely that the Italian will still be at the club in August, while it’s not unthinkable to imagine him leaving before the end of the current season.

Owner Roman Abramovich would ideally like to see Conte stay on until the end of the season but Enrique has emerged as the frontrunner to succeed the 48-year-old if he leaves.

Enrique has been out of work since stepping down as Barcelona head coach at the end of last season following three years at the club but is now ready to return to management, albeit preferably only at the end of the season.

Chelsea have only won two of their last 10 matches in all competitions and are now clinging on to a place in the top four in the Premier League.

Furthermore, Chelsea have lost consecutive Premier League matches by a margin of at least three goals for the first time since October 1995.
