Arsenal make £90m bid for Sanchez replacement

Arsenal have revived their interest in Monaco winger Thomas Lemar and tabled a potential British record £90m bid, reports The Daily Mail.

Arsene Wenger failed in his attempts to sign Lemar earlier in the summer but the Gunners have reignited their pursuit as they look to find a replacement for Alexis Sanchez.

Manchester City have returned with a second bid worth £60m for the Chile international and the deal hinges almost entirely on whether Wenger can find a replacement before the window closes at 11pm tonight.

The Gunners face stiff competition from Liverpool for the signature of Lemar but have jumped to the front of the queue for the France international after making a record bid for the 21-year-old.

Monaco have been gutted off all of their best players this summer and Arsenal hope a £90m bid will be enough to convince the Ligue 1 champions to part ways with another.

Lemar has started all four of Monaco’s Ligue 1 games this season and has already provided two assists in that time. Furthermore, Lemar has provided the most assists from set-pieces in Ligue 1 since the start of last season (7).
