Tottenham reject Crystal Palace approach for left-back

Tottenham have rejected an offer from Crystal Palace for left-back Ben Davies, according to the Sunday Mirror.

The Wales international has made only three Premier League starts this season, leading to reports that Spurs could cash in on Davies.

Crystal Palace are keen to strengthen at left-back and have also been linked with a move for Juventus’ Patrice Evra.

However, their £8m move for Davies has been rejected by Tottenham, who are are unwilling to sanction the sale of the Welshman following Jan Vertonghen’s recent ankle injury.

While not as bad as initially feared, Vertonghen is out until March after sustaining the problem in the 4-0 win over West Brom.

Mauricio Pochettino urged chairman Daniel Levy to block any possible sale of the 23-year-old, with Davies able to play left-back or on the left of a three-man defence the Spurs boss has deployed in recent weeks, even if Kevin Wimmer started ahead of his teammate against Manchester City on Saturday.
