Leicester owners furious with star man

Leicester’s owners have been left incensed with star man Kasper Schmeichel after angling for a move away from the club this summer despite being told he is not for sale, reports The Daily Mirror.

The Foxes made Schmeichel the best-paid player in the history of their club when they handed him a new £100,000-a-week contract in August and believe the 30-year-old should honour that agreement.

Schmeichel has arguably been the club’s most consistent performer this season off the back of their fairytale Premier League triumph and particularly excelled in their Champions League campaign that ended in defeat to Atletico Madrid in the quarter-finals.

The Denmark international does not have a buy-out clause in his new contract and has since changed his agent to handle his business. Schmeichel reportedly has some of the biggest clubs in the Premier League interested in his signature this summer, in what could be his last chance to be first choice at a huge club.

In the last two Premier League campaigns only three goalkeepers have kept more clean sheets than the Leicester ace (22).
