Newcastle have confirmed Steven Taylor will be out for “a couple of months” after having an operation on his hamstring.
Taylor, 29, has seen the majority of his career savaged by injuries and the English defender is now unlikely to appear before the festive period after going under the knife to fix a hamstring injury that has seen him miss Newcastle’s last two matches.
“He had a scan on his hamstring,” explained McClaren on Newcastle’s official website.
“He’s had a small operation to repair the damager and unfortunately it looks like he’ll be out for a couple of months.”
Since the 2010/11 campaign, injuries have meant Taylor has only featured in 33.3% of Premier League matches for Newcastle (75).
