Manchester United offer Luke Shaw a new deal

Luke Shaw has been offered a new long-term contract by Manchester United after finally winning Jose Mourinho’s approval, reports The Daily Express.

The England international has entered the final 12 months of his current United deal and looked destined to leave Old Trafford ever since Jose Mourinho was appointed manager in 2016.

Shaw has endured a turbulent relationship with Mourinho for more than two years and has often been on the receiving end of some verbal lashings from the United boss.

The 23-year-old, who is an injury doubt for Saturday’s trip to Chelsea, has finally won over Mourinho this season and has been one of the club’s best performers.

Tottenham have been heavily linked with a move for Shaw in the last 12 months but now look set to miss out on the talented left-back.

United have reportedly rewarded Shaw with a new £150,000-a-week deal and their intention to secure his long-term future indicates Mourinho no longer wants Juventus defender Alex Sandro.

Of United players that have made more than one Premier League appearance this season, only Paul Pogba (7.07) and Alexis Sanchez (7.05) have higher WhoScored ratings than Shaw (6.98).
