Hudson-Odoi poised to sign new long-term Chelsea deal
Chelsea have made a significant breakthrough in contract talks with Callum Hudson-Odoi, claims the London Evening Standard.
Hudson-Odoi’s existing deal is due to expire at the end of next season and his heart was previously set on leaving Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea rejected multiple offers from Bayern Munich for Hudson-Odoi at the start of the year and the Bundesliga outfit were expected to rekindle their interest this summer.
Hudson-Odoi grew disillusioned by a lack of playing time at Chelsea last season but head coach Maurizio Sarri is expected to leave the club this summer.
The England international turned down a reported £100,000-a-week offer of a new deal from Chelsea in March but talks have now progressed to an advanced stage.
With Eden Hazard poised to join Real Madrid this summer, news that Hudson-Odoi is ready to pledge his long-term future to Chelsea is a huge boost for the west London outfit.
Hudson-Odoi is currently sidelined with an Achilles tendon injury and is not due back in full training until the end of the year.
The 18-year-old played a direct hand in six goals in nine Europa League appearances last season (four goals, two assists) and earned a place in the WhoScored Team of the Tournament (7.60 rating).
In fact, of players that made at least five appearances in the competition, only Hazard (7.2) completed more dribble per 90 than Hudson-Odoi (6.5).
