Juventus manager cools Arsenal talk

Juventus manager Max Allegri has labelled talk of him becoming Arsene Wenger’s successor at Arsenal this summer as mere paper talk.

Allegri, 49, has emerged as a possible candidate to replace Wenger at the end of the season if he decides to walk away from Arsenal after 21 years at the club.

The Italian has reportedly agreed with Juventus that this will be his last year with the club, which would make him an accessible option for Arsenal should they pursue him as Wenger’s successor.

However, Allegri has cooled talk about a possible switch to England in the summer and rubbished reports suggestion he has recently started learning English.

“How’s my English,” Allegri told Sky Italia after their 4-1 win over Palermo on Friday. “I started learning before AC Milan, now I’ve left it. They say I’ll go to Arsenal? You all say that, I just listen…”

Allegri has led Juventus to back-to-back Serie A titles since succeeding Antonio Conte in 2014 and is on course to land a third in a row as the Old Lady sit 10 points clear at the top of the table.
