Bayern Munich bid for Bayer Leverkusen star

Bayern Munich have lodged a €60m bid for Bayer Leverkusen star Leon Bailey, according to ESPN.

The Jamaican forward, whose international future has been called into question, enjoyed a hugely impressive season with the Bundesliga side as he netted nine times and registered six assists.

Manchester United and Chelsea have both been linked with a move for the 20-year-old, but Bayern are now believed to have made their move for Bailey.

Bayer Leverkusen, though, are holding out for bids closer to €100m and would rather sell to Real Madrid than Bayern if they are forced to cash in on one of their star players.

Bayern, however, believe Bailey favours a move to the Allianz Arena over Madrid and are confident a deal can be struck.

The German champions would need to up their offer in order to convince Bayer Leverkusen to sell Bailey, whose WhoScored.com rating of 7.32 was enough to secure a spot in the Bundesliga team of the season.

Bayer Leverkusen’s failure to secure Champions League football could also impact their chances of keeping Bailey this summer.
