Manchester United consider big money move for De Gea replacement
Manchester United a pondering a £70m move for Everton goalkeeper and England number one Jordan Pickford should David De Gea opt against signing a new deal at Old Trafford, reports the Sunday Mirror.
The Spain international has been discussing a new deal with United, but is looking to up his wages to £350,000-a-week if he is to commit to the club.
De Gea wants to be paid the same as United’s highest paid player, Alexis Sanchez, and if the club can’t pay his wages, then PSG or Juventus, who have both been linked, will look to snare him away from Manchester.
United, though, are already plotting a move to lure Pickford away from Goodison Park and make him their new number one should De Gea not pen a new long-term deal at Old Trafford.
However, the Toffees would hold out for bids of upwards of £70m, which while not a world record for a goalkeeper, would come close to eclipsing Kepa’s big money move to Chelsea last summer.
Pickford has played every minute for Everton this season, keeping four clean sheets from his 13 appearances, and he’ll hope to add to that in today’s Merseyside Derby.
