Klopp tops Liverpool shortlist

Liverpool are reported to have opened discussions with Jurgen Klopp about succeeding Brendan Rodgers as manager.

Rodgers was relieved of his duties on Sunday evening following the 1-1 draw with Everton after a disappointing start to the season.

The Reds currently sit 10th in the Premier League with just three wins to their name from the opening eight games of the season.

Carlo Ancelotti and Roberto Di Matteo have been mooted with a possible switch to Anfield, but Klopp is believed to be the man Fenway Sports Group want to take over on Merseyside.

Klopp has been out of work since the summer after leaving Borussia Dortmund and has been linked with a number of teams across Europe, including Zenit St. Petersburg and Borussia Monchengladbach.

However, it's Liverpool who are hoping to coax the German back into management as they look to make a swift appointment following Rodgers' dismissal.
