Juventus target going no where if Lyon win the Europa League
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has revealed Juventus target Corentin Tolisso will not leave in the summer if the club win the Europa League this season.
Tolisso, 22, has been tipped to follow star striker Alexandre Lacazette out the club this summer and has been heavily linked with a move to Juventus after enjoying a fine campaign for the French giants.
However, while Lyon are expected to miss out on the Champions League places in the league, Bruno Genesio’s side are in the quarter-finals of the Europa League and winning that tournament would grant them automatic passage into UEFA’s premier competition next season.
Lyon will not be looking to sell their best players if they welcome Champions League football next season and Aulas has ruled out Tolisso’s departure under those circumstances.
“It’s a risk. I can assure you that if we win the Europa League they will not leave. They won’t want to leave,” Aulas told Le Parisian, via Football Italia.
“Then if they do have to go, there are worse things. That would mean we’d have [financial] means greater than our needs. We finally have, after 15 years, the means for our ambitions.
“Third-place seems difficult, but there’s still a chance. At one point we were 100/1 to win the Europa League, now we’re 5/1.
“If we’re in Europe then it won’t be a failed season. We could be in European competition for the 21st time in a row…”
Tolisso, a versatile midfielder that can play in a number of positions in the middle of the park, has scored or assisted 11 goals in Ligue 1 this season, while he has also added a direct hand in five goals in European competition for Lyon this season.
In fact, the young Frenchman has scored in all five competitions he has featured in for Lyon this season, an impressive feat for someone still at the start of their career.
