Atletico Madrid announce return of Carrasco

Atletico Madrid have confirmed that winger Yannick Carrasco has returned to the club.

The Belgian winger, who left for Chinese Super League side Dalian Professional FC in 2018, has joined Atletico on loan with a reported €12.5m option to buy.

Carrasco had been heavily linked with a Premier League switch this month, with Crystal Palace courting the 26-year-old.

However, Carrasco has elected to move back to Madrid after a mixed two-and-a-half year spell with Diego Simeone's side.

The Belgium international enjoyed a commendable campaign in China in 2019, as he scored 17 goals and registered seven assists to return a WhoScored rating of 7.73.

Atleti fans will be hoping Carrasco can replicate his league form from the 2016/17 season, where he scored 10 and registered four assists.

Simeone's side have been faltering of late as their 0-0 draw with Leganes on Sunday left them fifth in LaLiga, 10 points off first placed Real Madrid.

Los Colchoneros face their Madrid rivals at the Bernabeu on Saturday as they seek to get their campaign back on track and build on a poor record that has seen them win just one of their last seven away league matches.
