Manchester United have rejected an improved £13.5m offer from Lyon for out-of-favour forward Memphis Depay, according to The Daily Mail.
Memphis, 23, has been given the greenlight to leave Old Trafford this month after making no impression on manager Jose Mourinho but the Red Devils will only allow their No.7 to leave on a permanent deal.
Lyon manager Bruno Genesio has already confirmed the Ligue 1 outfit have made the signing of Memphis a priority this month but United are holding out for at least £17.5m as they look to recoup a large portion of the £25m they spent to sign him from PSV Eindhoven in 2015.
United have refused to sell their deadwood for next to nothing this season, which is a change from their selling policy in recent years. Mourinho’s side have already recouped an initial £20m for Morgan Schneiderlin this month and they will only sell Memphis on their terms.
Of players to have started in at least 15 Premier League matches in the last two campaigns Memphis has been dispossessed more frequently than any other player (every 21 mins).
