Real Madrid target Neymar reveals who he will play for next season
Neymar has dismissed the idea he will leave Paris Saint-Germain for Real Madrid this summer by declaring his love for the Ligue 1 champions.
PSG brokered a world record £200m deal to sign Neymar from Barcelona 12 months ago but the 26-year-old has been repeatedly linked with a return to Spain since.
Madrid are desperate to prise Neymar back to La Liga and believe he is the perfect long-term replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, who sensationally joined Juventus earlier this month.
However, Julen Lopetegui’s side have been served a decisive blow in their pursuit of the Brazil international after he pledged his immediate future to PSG.
“I’m staying,” Sky Sports quote Neymar as saying. “I’m staying in Paris. I have a contract. Most of the speculation is made by the media.
“Everyone knows my objective, why I went to Paris. I want to have success with that club and I hope next season could be wonderful.”
Madrid are heavily linked with a move for Chelsea star Eden Hazard after appearing to concede defeat in their pursuit of PSG duo Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.
Neymar enjoyed a stunning maiden campaign at PSG but his season finished three months early due to a foot injury, which threatened to rule him out of the 2018 World Cup.
Nevertheless, the PSG No.10 played a direct hand 41 goals in 27 league and European matches last season (25 goals, 16 assists), finishing with 16 WhoScored Man of the Match awards across both competitions.
