Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has poured cold water on suggestions star striker Robert Lewandowski will leave the club this summer.
Lewandowski has emerged as one of Real Madrid’s top transfer targets ahead of the summer as Florentino Perez plots an offensive overhaul of the squad.
The Poland international has been heavily linked with a switch to Madrid in recent years and reportedly changed agents recently in a bid to secure a move.
Chelsea and Manchester United have also been credited with an interest in Lewandowski this year but Rummenigge has ruled out his departure.
“I always like to remember 2009, when we had an amazing offer from Chelsea for Franck Ribery,” he told German outlet Kicker. “From that day on, the whole football world knew: nobody can buy a Bayern Munich player against Bayern Munich’s will.
“I want to assume that Robert is 100 per cent going to play for Bayern next season.”
The Bayern No.9 has been in sublime goalscoring form once again this season, netting 23 goals in 25 league appearances.
The 29-year-old has scored in 12 of his 13 home appearances in the Bundesliga this season, even netting in 11 consecutive matches at the Allianz Arena.
