Manchester United ready to up Wan-Bissaka offer but have other options

Manchester United are ready to increase their offer for Crystal Palace right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka but have lined up alternatives if a deal cannot be reached, The Guardian claims.

The Red Devils initial offer of £40m was rebuffed by the Eagles, who are believed to be holding out for at least £20m more than that.

There has been talk of some room for negotiations in any such deal, however, including the potential removal of Manchester United’s sell on clause in the contract of Wilfried Zaha.

Wan-Bissaka is thought to be open to a move to Old Trafford but has just travelled to Italy with England’s U21 squad ahead of the upcoming European Championships.

The 21-year-old made a huge impression in his first full season in senior football at Selhurst Park, earning the best WhoScored.com rating at Palace (7.27) having ranked among the top three players in the Premier League for both tackles and interceptions.

Should United fail to agree a deal for the youngster they could turn their attentions overseas, where Atalanta full-back Timothy Castagne has reportedly been identified as a target.

The Belgium international helped the Serie A side to a first ever Champions League finish in third last season, playing from either left or right wing-back.

The 23-year old made 28 league appearances, scoring four times and averaging 2.7 tackles per 90 minutes.
