Fiorentina will try and sign defender Philippe Mexes in January after missing out on the France international on deadline day, according to La Nazione.
The Viola had hoped to secure the services of the veteran defender on the final day of the summer window but reportedly saw their move blocked by Milan president Silvio Berlusconi.
Mexes, 33, has entered the final 12 months of his current deal with the Rossoneri and is unlikely to be rewarded a new deal after falling out of favour under manager Sinisa Mihajlovic.
The former Auxerre defender has made 67 league appearances for Milan since joining from Roma in 2011 and no player has been disciplined more by a referee for the Serie A giants in that time (33).
