Austin to stay with QPR until the summer

Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin admits he is unlikely to leave the club in January, according to Sky Sports News.

Austin, 26, has been heavily linked with a move to Newcastle and Sunderland in recent weeks.

However, the England striker insists he is focused on helping QPR get promoted back to the Premier League at the first time of asking and will probably leave in the summer when he becomes a free agent.

“I can’t see myself leaving in January, because I’m concentrating on playing for QPR,” Austin said. “I think I owe it them and my loyalty is with them, to help them and get promoted.

“Football is a small career and you have to make the right decisions, the right moves, and if it’s right for myself, and my family and the people I bounce the ideas off then I will take on anything.”

Austin scored 18 goals in the Premier League last season and only Nick Blackman (9) and Chris Martin (8) have scored more goals than the QPR frontman in the Championship thus far, despite missing his team’s last four matches through a hamstring injury.
