Blanc extends PSG deal

Paris Saint-Germain has announced Laurent Blanc has signed a two-year contract extension keeping him at the club until 2018.

Blanc’s current deal had been due to expire at the end of the season but it had emerged he would be offered an extension earlier in the year.

The Frenchman has led the Parisien outfit to back-to-back Ligue 1 titles since arriving in 2013 and he has called the gesture a ‘strong show of faith’ by the PSG board.

“Quite simply, we need to look to the future, that’s the way I see it,” Blanc told the club’s official website.

“Of course, it’s a strong show of faith, and I’m very happy, also for my staff. A coach is nothing without his staff. For us, continuing the adventure is a show of faith but also a big responsibility.

“The club has ambitions both nationally and in Europe, and we’ll do all we can to reach those objectives. We’ll get there; we’re ready. We’re aware that we’re at big club where expectations are very high.”

PSG are currently on course to wrap up the Ligue 1 title in record time and are the only team still unbeaten across Europe’s top five leagues (25 games) this season.
