Koeman concedes his Everton future is unknown

Ronald Koeman admits his future as Everton manager is uncertain in the wake of their 5-2 defeat at home to Arsenal on Sunday.

The Dutchman is among the leading Premier League managers fighting for his future and he moved a step closer to being sacked at the weekend.

Everton spent well over £100m on new players over the summer but have endured a nightmare start to the season than continued on Sunday.

Koeman has previously been adamant at being the right man to carry Everton forward but on Sunday admitted he is unsure how long he will still be at the club.

“I don’t know,” The Daily Telegraph quote Koeman as saying when asked whether defeat to Arsenal would cost him his job. “I told the players I believe the players and the commitment of the players, but if you are negative thinking, I can understand it. If you start to think negative maybe it is no solution.

“All the rumours are normal. The team is underperforming, mentally confidence is struggling. That’s what we need to change. I don’t know. I always speak or text to the board. Also tonight.”

Everton currently occupy the final position in the bottom three but know just a win could take them as high as 12th.

However, only Stoke (20) and Crystal Palace (19) have conceded more Premier League goals than the Merseysiders (18) this season and Koeman’s side have already shipped three goals at home to Tottenham, four goals against Manchester United and five versus Arsenal this weekend.
