Chelsea have approached PSG over a potential move for Thiago Silva, reports Tuttomercatoweb.
The Brazilian centre-back has two-and-a-half years left to run on his current deal for the Parisian giants, but Chelsea are hopeful a deal can be struck that would see him move to Stamford Bridge in the summer.
Thiago Silva has previously spoken of his happiness in Paris, though that is unlikely to deter the Blues from making a move for their captain.
With John Terry's advancing years, Chelsea require an experienced figurehead at the heart of their defence and Thiago Silva fits the bill perfectly.
However, it would take a hefty fee to convince the player to leave the Parc des Princes, while PSG are not thought to be keen on selling.
That is not likely to ward Chelsea off moving for the 31-year-old, with the defending Premier League champions hopeful of striking a deal in time for the summer transfer window.
The Brazil international has played a key role in PSG's dominant season to date, with only midfield teammates Thiago Motta (94) and Marco Verratti (89.7) averaging more passes per game than Thiago Silva (78.8) in Ligue 1 this term.
