Tottenham eye cut-price deal for Stoke ace Shaqiri

Tottenham are interested in signing Stoke ace Xherdan Shaqiri in a cut-price £12m deal, claims The Daily Mirror.

Shaqiri will leave Stoke this summer after the Potters were relegated to the Championship last summer and he will not be short of suitors.

Mark Hughes is keen to reunite with Shaqiri at Southampton but the south coast side will face competition from Tottenham.

The Switzerland international will hope to use the World Cup as a platform to further enhance his stock but there will still be plenty of interest due to his £12m release clause.

Mauricio Pochettino has been assured there will be money to spend despite the fact Tottenham are due to move into their brand new stadium for next season.

Shaqiri would represent great value in today’s market but it remains to be seen whether he is the right fit for Pochettino’s philosophy.

The 26-year-old played a direct hand in 15 goals in 36 Premier League appearances for Stoke last season, at least five more than any other team-mate.
