West Ham striker faces four weeks out

West Ham have been dealt a blow in their bid to beat the drop with Diafra Sakho set to miss the next four weeks with a hamstring injury, reports The Daily Mirror.

Sakho, 26, has only returned to full match fitness in the last two weeks after missing the first four months of the season with a back injury.

The Senegal international is due to undergo scans over the next 24 hours to discover the full extent of the injury sustained in the second half of West Ham’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United on Sunday.

Sakho opened the scoring in the first 90 seconds of the stalemate at Old Trafford but is certainly ruled out of their League Cup match against United on Wednesday with his participation in the rest of 2016 highly doubtful.

With Simone Zaza and Jonathan Calleri out of favour and Andy Carroll still trying to return to full fitness himself, it leaves Slaven Bilic with few options in attack, with club record signing Andre Ayew, who has only just returned from injury, set to lead the line in midweek.

Sakho has scored more goals than any other West Ham player in the Premier League since he joined in 2014 (16).
