Watford manager Walter Mazzarri needs to finish the season strongly or risk suffering the same fate as his predecessor Quique Sanchez Flores, reports The Daily Mirror.
Flores was sacked at the end of last season despite securing their Premier League status midway through the campaign and leading the club to an FA Cup semi final.
The Hornets are currently seven points above the bottom three but have failed to win any of their last four in the league and still require 14 points from a possible 30 to match last season’s finish.
Watford started the season well but have struggled to cope with a serious of significant injuries to key players and have basically coasted through the majority of the campaign and now Mazzarri needs a strong finish to guarantee his job next season.
Mazzarri has only managed to string together successive wins on two occasions in his first season in charge of Watford and anything other than a win over Sunderland in their next fixture would only ramp up the heat on the Italian further.
