Villa part ways with Garde

Aston Villa have announced they have parted ways with manager Remi Garde by mutual consent after just 147 days in charge.

Garde, 49, replaced Tim Sherwood as Villa manager at the start of November with the club rock bottom.

However, the Frenchman would go on to win just two of his 21 league games in charge leaving the Midlands outfit 12 points adrift of safety and almost certainly relegated.

The Frenchman had looked set to remain in charge of Villa even if they went down, but there has been animosity between the former Lyon manager and the board after they failed to sign any players in January.
