Everton are on the verge of signing Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes on a permanent deal worth £22.3m, claims the London Evening Standard.
Gomes spent last season on loan at Everton and Marco Silva’s side have been working on securing his long-term future for the last month.
The Portugal international has no future at Barcelona and Ernesto Valverde’s side need to sell players in order to comply with Financial Fair Play (FFP).
Gomes turned down West Ham’s advances at the start of the month in order to secure a permanent move to Everton.
The 25-year-old will be Everton’s second signing of the summer after the free transfer arrival of Jonas Lossl from Huddersfield earlier in the window.
Signing Gomes is a boost for the Toffees, though will need to improve to justify Everton’s outlay.
Gomes only scored one goal and registered one assist in 27 Premier League appearances last season.
